JAZZ™ 2017 brings another premiere for Timișoara: the British artist, composer and producer Bill Laurance. Winner of two Grammy awards, this musician is a multi-instrumentalist who manages to cross genres and unite jazz with electric, pop, funk or traditional african music and bring them all throughout the world.

Named by The Guardian a “master of jazz”, Laurance has released 4 albums so far, and has travelled the world with a string of award-winning projects, including his quartet, his duo and his solo, as a pianist. Also, he runs the electronic duo The Fix and is a founding member of the acclaimed group Snarky Puppy.

Alongside the American group, he has won two Grammy awards, and, in 2015, the Breakthrough award, presented by JazzFM. Moreover, in 2016, he was nominated for a MOBO award for Best Jazz Act.
His 4 albums, „Flint”, „Swift”, „Live at the Union Chapel” and „Aftersun”, are the result of his creative freedom, they represent fusions of several genres, and the live experiences through which they are brought into the world are worthy of remembrance. His most recent album, “Aftersun”, is a tribute to the exploration of space and life in cosmos. Sprinkled with dance music and african persussion, the album combines groove with Laurance’s unmistakable style of exploring a mix of musical genres.
