Sorin Zlato Trio was founded in 2008, the group is formed by Sorin Zlat (piano), Michelle Montolli-Italy (double bass) and Andy Trim-U.K (drums).
In this formula, Sorin Zlat was invited in 2017 by the “Rimbaud & Verlaine” Foundation in London to perform a recital at the famous Kings Place concert hall and to compose music in the memory of the two poets to reflect their lives. At the concerts they held in Europe and the USA, the trio has set out and continues to delight the audience with tracks from the concert held in London, compositions on the album “Endurance” and new compositions that will appear on the next disc that will be launched this spring.
The band’s repertoire includes jazz standards, as well as their own compositions, the styles of Sorin Zlat Trio being cool jazz, Latin, post-bop and classic jazz. Through this fusion of styles, the group has gained recognition of the jazz audience in Romania and abroad, enjoying numerous concerts on famous clubs like Vortex, Pizza Express, Ronnie’s Scott, Kings Place in London, Nardis in Istanbul, Jazz Cafe in Montreux, B-flat in Berlin, but also at festivals, including: Montreux Jazz Festival, Pera Fest (Turkey), Getxo Jazz Festival (Spain), Jacksonville Jazz Festival (USA), Monaco Jazz Festival, etc.
Over time, Sorin Zlato Trio sang alongside the big names of jazz: Lee Ritenour, Ravi Coltrane, Brandford Marsallis, Joey Calderazzo, Tito Puente and Jeff Ballard. On May 28, 2017, Sorin was invited as headliner at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival US concert on the same evening and sharing the stage with Chick Corea Trio, Joey Alexander Trio and The Commodores.
